Paul Edgecombe is the head of Death Row at Cold Stone Prison. It is 1932 at this prison in Alabama. It is an unusually hot early autumn in this Stephan King novel, The Green Mile. Looking back on his life while in a nursing home, he realizes that that is the period that changed his life, as well some of his friends. He decides, 64 years later, to finally write down those life changing months.
Death Row, E block, at Cold Stone is tiled with green linoleum, giving it the nickname The Green Mile. Prisoners who walk that Green Mile finish the walk at "Old Sparky", the electric chair. Paul’s most unforgettable memories are a mouse, which a prisoner names Mr. Jingles, and a prisoner named John Coffey, “Like the drink but spelled different.” Mr. Jingles is a mouse who is surprisingly human, and lives till he dies with Paul, in the nursing home. John Coffey is sentenced to die in the electric chair, but is innocent. Before he goes, he performs a string of miracles before willingly dying in “Old Sparky’s” lap.
Paul was lucky enough to live to be 100+. Having his life changed, he feels accomplished and, dies peacefully in bed. As he is in his last years, he realizes that John Coffey was probably

Thomas MAriano “My name is Christopher John Francis Boone and I know all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057.” In the fiction novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Christopher, an autistic teenager, is living with his dad, and his mom is supposedly dead. The author, Mark Haddon, beautifully illustrates the journey Chris takes to find his mother. I thought this was a great book, and would consider reading it again.
Chris may be autistic, but he is very bright and has an amazing memory. After a neighbor’s dog is killed, Chris decides to investigate. In doing this, Chris discovers his mom is still alive and tat his dad murdered the dog. He is therefore scared of his father, and leaves him to find his mother. After doing so, his dad apologizes for every act of wrong-doing he has committed and they live on happily. The author writes this book in a sense that he actually is the main character. Numbering the chapters with prime numbers is another reason this book is such an eccentric novel.
This is a must-read book for teens and adults, demonstrating lessons to both groups. The theme is to trust your parents, or to be more considerate to your kids. Both ideas will have you happier and more aware of the world around you. (Even if your not as smart as Christopher)
